The Life and Times of Ryan Millar.....
Ryan Madsen Millar was born on January 22nd, 1978, in San Dimas, California. (But if you ask his Dad he might tell you he was born on the 24th) He was the last of four boys, so he was the baby. He attended Washington Elementary School in Glendora, California, and then in the summer of 1988 his family moved to Palmdale, California. This move would prove to be a key role in Ryan's future profession. He started palying Volleyball in the 8th Grade. His older brother Jon started playing it in High School, so Ryan took suit, and started playing it too. By Ryan's Sophmore year he had already grown almost a foot in size, so naturally his High School coaches were drooling. By the end of his Sophmore year, he ahd helped his team reach the first round of the CIF Finals, and after the end of his Junior Year his Team finished Runner-Up in the CIF Finals, and Ryan was named California Player of the Year. Naturally by his Senior Year, colleges were beating down his door, but he decided to go to BYU. Most people might think that he picked BYU merely for religious reasons, being that Ryan is a active member of the LDS church (Mormon). In truth, Ryan was still only 17 and he thought he needed the more strict lifestyle of BYU to help him out physicaly as well as spiritualy. Obviously this was the correct choice, ad he helped lead BYU to the 1999 NCAA Finals Championship. During his four years at BYU, he was 1st Team All American three years in a row, Freshman of the Year, and presently holds almost all BYU Men's Volleyball career statistical records.
